Robust Design using SaberRD

This Robust Design workshop teaches a practical methodology for implementing a robust design flow using simulation. The class concentrates on methodology and walks you through the steps that lead to quality, cost-effective design.

During this workshop, you will learn and apply the following skills:
• Determine the design performance measure that is the focus of robust design techniques
• Implement a model in a manner that balances the trade-off between fidelity, ease-of implementation, and simulation speed
• Simulate to determine the nominal system response
• Isolate the design parameters that have the biggest influence on design robustness
• Optimize the design to meet robustness goals

Hands-on labs follow each training module, so you can apply the skills learned in the lecture session.

Public And Technical Background Required

The training is recommended to everybody interested in the theoretical aspects and practical design issues of power electronics simulation. Having previous experience in power electronics and circuit simulation is really useful, but beginners with no background in those topics will also benefit from the training.

Basic understanding of engineering design principles.

At the end of this workshop you should be able to:
– Apply the steps of the robust design methodology that leverages a virtual prototype
– Use the Saber Simulator to apply the steps of this methodology

  • Unit 0: Primer: Robust Design, Saber
  • Unit 1: Prepare for Simulation
  • Unit 2: Verify Norminal Operation
  • Unit 3: Find Sources of Variance
  • Unit 4: Analyze Statistical Performance
  • Unit 5: Modify Design / Prove Robustness
  • Unit 6: Worst-Case Analysis
  • Unit 7: Fault Analysis

The workshop starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM.

Coffee breaks and breakfast lunch will be offered by PWSIM
